Winter Solstice Feast 2011

Winter Solstice Feast, our joyous annual celebration of the season, is a party & benefit for Bushwick Farmers' Market and "the other neat projects of EcoStation:NY" (including Bushwick Campus Farm, Farm-in-the-Sky at Brookyln Fire Proof, and the upcoming veggie oil and solar-powered Bushwick Farmers' Market Green Machine, recent winner of a federal grant from USDA).
This year's Feast promises to literally be our biggest ever: our host, Brooklyn Fire Proof, have graciously loaned us use of The Nut Roaster Studio - a 7000 square foot playground for us to celebrate with the community in, one big enough to hold a performance stage, lounge, feast, bar, silent auction and market!

We are also beyond pleased to be working with local restaurants and chefs this year, who, along with the Bushwick Farmers' Market family, are conspiring to prepare a night your tastebuds and tummies will not soon forget!

The Holiday Food Fair and Bazaar returns this weekend with holiday fun for all: eating, shopping, and crafting!
Stop by and stock up on seasonal produce from Bushwick Farmers' Market, sample honey and vegan baked goods from Bee Good, try on some handmade jewelry and fashions from April May June, pick up Big City Nuts and Brown Butter Brooklyn's locally-made snacks, peruse Journals And Books' handpicked selections, marvel at indigo-dyed silk scarves from KazueUehara, choose from an assortment of holiday cards from Living Art Cards and Madge and Mabel, and just try to resist the offerings from the aptly-named Cutie Pies (you can't!).
All this plus offerings from some resident Shops at The Loom: treats from Bake-Zaria, handmade fashions and jewelry at Better Than Jam, silkscreened tees from Silkys, vintage threads at Nouveau Vieux, and a well-deserved resting spot, Kávé Espresso Bar.

| We wish to thank everyone for their warmly enthusiastic support in 2009, especially those who turned out for December's memorable fundraiser, which was a heck of a lot of fun, a beautiful reflection of our richly diverse community - and a huge success!
Special thanks must be given to some generous supporters whose donations helped make the event so wonderful: Roberta's restaurant, who custom-baked 150 sourdough boules that served as soup bowls and dinner plates; Pride Enterprises, who graciously loaned us the sprawling space for the event (currently available for lease if you are interested), while others shared their gifts and performed for us in a spirited show that included a great live band, a fire dancer, a didgeridoo, and a guest appearance from recent mayoral candidate, Reverend Billy!
Others showed their support by donating items to our "silent auction": knit hats from Johanna of East New York Farms!, lessons at The Trapeze Loft, a bike accessory pack from Brooklyn Bike School, a trio of jams from Jamarchy... really great stuff!
And then there were the volunteers, who helped pull it all together. Thanks, everyone!
And thanks to all who continue to believe that Bushwick is not a food or culture desert! See you in the Spring!

Thanks to EVERYONE for making PUMPKINFEST! 2009 a big success:
Market volunteers, the Linden-Bushwick Block Association Garden's home team,
and especially our volunteer Zombies, who found time during their busiest season
to participate in our Haunted Garden and put some old-fashioned scares
back into Halloween for 200 or so lucky (?) visitors!
